City of Horton asking for help after 4 families lost everything in fire

The city of Horton is asking for the public’s help to assist four families who lost everything when their homes caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

Three houses were destroyed in the fires in the 300 block of 8th

Officials say the fire started in one house and spread to the two houses on either side of it.

Bulldozers were brought to the scene and used to pat down the fire, demolishing the initial home.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

The owner of the middle house believes their new portable heater could be the cause, but that has not been confirmed by investigators.

The city of Horton says you can drop off donations at the Police Department for the 4 families displaced by the blaze.

Clothing sizes are as follows:

- boys size 12 month

- girls size 4T

- boys size 5T

- women's size medium and large shirts

- women's size 4, 5 and 10 pants

- women's size 7 1/2 or 8 shoes

- women's size 5 underwear

- men's size large and XL shirts

- men's size 33x30, 36x32 & 36x34 pants

- men's size large underwear

- men's size 9 socks, and men's size 10 and 11 shoes

They are also asking for food and monetary donations.

UPDATE: Monetary donations can also be made at First Option Bank here in Horton!!! 4 families lost their homes today...
