Investigators are still trying to determine what sparked an overnight blaze that enveloped a central Topeka home Sunday morning.

The Topeka Fire Dept. says its preliminary investigation was unable to determine the cause of the fire at 1726 SW Harrison St. and they continue to look into it.

Firefighters say the home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived around 1 a.m. They struck a defensive position and managed to keep it contained to the original home. Shortly after they got there, though, the roof and walls began to collapse.

Investigators estimated the fire did approximately $8,100 in damage to the house.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 785-234-0007 or toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
