FORK IN THE ROAD: Sale Barn Cafe
Hi friends. This week's fork in the road takes me to Manhattan, Kansas where, because of the location of the restaurant, you might want to be careful with your hand gestures.
"I'd like to welcome you to the Manhattan sale barn cafe. We're located on Highway 24 South side of the road or right next to the Manhattan commission company. I think one thing about the cafe here it's home cooked meals, a friendly atmosphere and if they want to watch the sale, we have the TVs. Those wanting to do out in the ring and watch the cattle. They can also do that also free free entertainment. We have a lot of people bring their grandchildren, you know, city people from the city, so they bring them out to the sale a lot of times just so the kids can see how cattle going through the ring."
Well that's something you don't see at most cafes. But what about the food? I'm hungry.
"Well on a Friday, of course, we've always got to have a special, you know, we have a roast beef dinner -we're selling beef, so a roast beef dinner or a hot beef sandwich, you know, and uh, of course they have excellent, excellent hamburger cheeseburgers here."
"A customer. She's from Caldwell, Kansas. And she said that our burger's remind her of back home and they make her happy. So, I mean, our burgers are really good."
If you're looking for breakfast items, you'll find omelettes and biscuit and gravy. But wait, let's go back to the French fries. I hear they're so good that some would rather not share.
He won’t share see. I'm going to take them from you.
"You’re not going to get that fancy meal coming here. You're going to get a good hearty meal, home cooked meal, order up."
And that's just fine by me. In Manhattan. Eric Ives -13 news
