MEXICO, Mo. (WIBW) -- An Emporia woman died Monday after her car reportedly went into oncoming traffic on a Missouri highway and collided with a tractor-trailer.

According to the Mexico, Missouri, Dept. of Public Safety, Laura Ingold was heading east on U.S. 54 at the time of the crash. Investigators say the 34-year-old Ingold was about two miles south of East Liberty, around 2 p.m., when her 2000 Buick crossed the centerline.

Emergency crews had to extricate Ingold from her car and she was flown to University Hospital, in Columbia, where she later died.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Courtney Williams, of Mansfield, Texas, suffered minor injuries in the crash, but refused medical treatment. The crash closed the highway for several hours.

According to KVOE Radio, Ingold is the daughter of John and Karla Ingold, who own Express Tire and Auto.
