Emporia Police Chief announces retirement
The Emporia Police Department will be looking for a new leader in the new year.
The city announced Tuesday that Police Chief Scott Cronk will retire, effective January 1st.
Cronk began his career with the Emporia Police Department 38 years ago as a reserve officer. He started as a full-time commissioned officer two years later. Cronk then rose through the ranks, becoming Chief in June 2013.
In a news release issued by the city, Cronk thanked people in Emporia for supporting him and the police department over the years.
Deputy Chief Ed Owen will serve as interim chief until a permanent chief is chosen.
