EL PASO, Tex. (WIBW/AP) -- A man who lost his wife in the mass shooting in El Paso earlier this month has no family left - but the funeral home handling her arrangements wants to make sure he doesn't grieve alone.
"❤️Let's show him & his Wife some El Paso Love❤️ #EPSTRONG," Perches Funeral Home said on its Facebook page.
Antonio Basco was married to Margie Reckard for 22 years before losing her in the August 3 shooting that claimed the lives of 22 people and injured 24, the funeral home explained.
Perches Funeral Homes director Harrison Johnson said Wednesday that Reckard has children and grandchildren. Johnson says Basco has no family in El Paso or elsewhere that funeral home officials have been made aware.
Johnson says the funeral home is preparing for a “multitude” of mourners.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, at 4946 Hondo Pass Dr. Reckard’s funeral is at 9 a.m. Saturday at Restlawn Cemetery.
They said he "welcomes anyone to attend his Wife's Services."
