Randolph Elementary staff was gifted free turkey vouchers in celebration of American Educators Week Friday, starting the holiday season off with a great surprise.

Representatives from local businesses Hy-Vee and Horace Mann presented the vouchers during a staff meeting early Friday, giving away a total of 63 vouchers as a way to say 'thank you' for the commitment educators dedicate to the community.

Randolph Elementary Principal Aaron Gray says the surprise shows educators their efforts are not forgotten.

"The teachers give so much," Gray said. "They spend hours and hours before and after school to support students. This is our way to show appreciation."

The staff members have until December 13 to redeem their turkeys.
