Drowsy driving blamed for early morning crash

ADMIRE, Kan. (WIBW) A Herrington man is recovering after an early morning crash between Allen and Admire.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened around 5:50 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Highway 56. That's where they say Braulio Rivas, 39, of Herington, fell asleep at the wheel drove off the road.

Officials say Rivas' 2013 Dodge Dart went into the south ditch and came to rest in a nearby creek.

Rivas was taken to Newman Regional Health with non-life threatening injuries.
