Driver involved in hit and run arrested in Lyon Co.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Authorities in Lyon County arrested a driver involved in a hit and run Saturday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m. deputies were called to mile marker 140 on southbound I-35. Witnesses said a red, possibly Pontiac passenger car struck another vehicle and continued southbound at a high rate of speed.

Deputies located a similar vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and stopped the vehicle just after the KTA Tollgates.

The driver of the red vehicle was arrested. Deputies are still waiting for a positive identification.

The driver is facing charges for aggravated assault, no driver’s license, no insurance, reckless driving, speeding and transporting an open container of alcohol.

The investigation is ongoing.
