Donation helps adults with disabilities thrive

Adults with disabilities were working outside Thursday but staying out of the sun thanks to a big donation.

The Capitol Federal Foundation donated an outdoor awning to the Capper Foundation. The Capper Foundation will use the awning while members clean and detail cars, as part of their adult specialty services.

Capper says these programs help adults find independence.

"If you think about it, everyone is alike in one sense," said Edie Smith, the Vice President of Development and Marketing for Capper. "We all have abilities and so our goal is to help people reach dreams and hope and enhance upon their abilities, which this is one of. Their able to do some really great things. It enhances motor skills and physical skills."

The adults get payed for their work, which Smith says boosts confidence and self esteem.
