TOPEKA (WIBW)- Democratic candidate for Kansas governor Josh Svaty now has a running mate.
In an announcement Wednesday morning, Svaty's campaign said Katrina Lewison is Svaty's choice for Lt. Governor.
The pair will be hitting the road, traveling to 11 cities across Kansas in two days -- starting in Topeka Wednesday morning at 8:30am at the Statehouse.
Lewison, originally from Hutchinson, is a West Point graduate and served in the 101st Airborne Division as a Blackhawk helicopter platoon leader. She is currently the director of consulting and training for the communication firm CivicPlus in Manhattan. She also serves on the USD 383 school board.
“It is an honor to be joining Josh Svaty in this critical campaign to shape the future direction of Kansas for generations,” said Lewison in a campaign statement. “I grew up in Kansas. The values I learned here shaped who I am and have guided me throughout my career."
In a statement, Svaty said "[Katrina] Lewison represents the best of who we are as Kansans... She’s a natural born leader who has been a true public servant throughout her life."
