WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH)- WICHITA, Kan. For the first time, serial killer Dennis Rader's daughter, Kerri Rawson, is putting her story into print.

Her book, "A Serial Killer's Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love and Overcoming is set for release next month. Tuesday, Eyewitness News reached out to Rawson to discuss her book's message and why she's making her story public.

Rawson's publicist says she wont' be available for an interview until after the book's release until after the book comes out, but in the trailer for it, Rawson describes the shock, confusion and depression she's had to overcome. It led her to sharing her side of the story that stunned Wichita more than a decade ago.

The crimes that shocked the community shattered Dennis Rader's family. In 2005, Rader, known as the BTK serial killer, confessed to murdering 10 people. In her book, Rawson opens up about the pain she's endured.

"Today I live with anxiety and depression and PTSD," she says in the book's trailer. "I'm a crime victim from before I was born. I'm a trauma and abuse victim from when I was little."

Rawson grew up in Park City and was unaware of her father's secret life before his 2005 arrest.

"Talking about it has helped me in a way nothing else could," she says. "I'm a survivor who wrote this book to help others on their journey of life."

Eyewitness News this summer wrote to Rader at the El Dorado Correctional Facility on an unrelated topic. He sent a letter back saying he knew his daughter was writing a book.

"I have survived unimaginable things," Rawson says.. "I'm here to tell you, 'never give up.'"

While the official release of Rawson's book is set for the end of January, it is now available fro pre-order.
