TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Shawnee Co. Commission Thursday approved improvement for the Lake Shawnee Softball Complex and Sherwood's sewer system.

Commissioners approved using nearly $100,000 from the excess reserve fund to put new bleachers at the Girls' Softball Complex. They will seat 360 people, be ADA accessible, and include hand rails.

The commission also approved $7 million worth of projects to improve the Sherwood sewer system. A loan from the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment will cover the cost.

Most of the money is for improving critical waste water systems around Lake Sherwood. $520,000 will go toward a new piece of equipment at their waste water treatment plant.
