County Commission approves tree removal at County Courthouse

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Shawnee County Commission approved the removal and trimming of trees around the County Courthouse.

The Shawnee County Courthouse was closed in early January due to a water main break leaving the facility without running water.

During the main's repair, root damage was caused to a large tree on the south side of the courthouse. It is believed that the tree will not survive the damage -- so it will be removed.

There are also some trees that interfere with the view of security cameras on the premises, so those will be trimmed for safety reasons.
