The lone survivor of a wreck that killed his father and three other people remains in the hospital.

Family members tell 13 NEWS that 13-year-old Kade Lenard is recovering at the University of Kansas Hospital’s Pediatric ICU. They say that he could be home later this week.

They say among the things boosting his spirits is a get-well letter he received from Kansas State football coach Bill Snyder.

Kade was injured when a vehicle crossed the center line on Highway 24 and hit the car he was in. Kade’s father Lance Lenard was killed. All three people in the other car were also killed, Silver Lake students Devin Greeve, Gaby Greeve and Tyler Crouse.

Funeral services for Lance will be held Saturday, Sept. 3. at Fellowship Bible Church. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the Lenard family asks that memorial contributions in Lance’s honor be made to the Lance Lenard Athletic Scholarship Fund at P.O. Box 3908, Topeka, Kan. 66604.
