TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Thursday morning chase through East Topeka landed two people in the hospital after the fleeing SUV crashed into a car and spun into another parked vehicle, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, 32-year-old Kyle R. Cazee-Watkins, that troopers were pursuing tried running away after the collisions, but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase, KHP said. Cazee-Watkins was wanted in an aggravated kidnapping.

The other person in the vehicle, 36-year-old Christopher L. Allen, was taken to the hospital after the crashes and is not expected to face charges, KHP added.

One person in the first car that was hit was also hurt and taken for medical attention. The two others in the car, including a child, were not injured.

None of their names were released as well.

According to KHP, the pursuit started in Oakland near NE Seward and Strait, when a trooper spotted the Cazee-Watkins, who was wanted by the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office. The chase extended to 21st and California and then back north where troopers stopped chasing it at 21st and Golden due to the dangerous conditions.

They re-engaged the chase, however, when the suspect continued to drive recklessly, KHP said. The Explorer struck the first car near the 12th and Lime intersection and spun before hitting a parked Chevrolet Tahoe.

Cazee-Watkins was booked on various charges including flee and elude, and aggravated kidnapping.
