TOPEKA (WIBW)-- A local organization that assist families through life and death struggles is celebrating two decades of living life to the fullest.
The community came together this evening for the 21st Annual Midland Care Walk.
This is Midland's biggest fundraiser. The dollars raised help local families who struggle financially with end of life care.
People enjoyed food, entertainment and games and at dusk, they lit thousands of luminaries in memory of loved ones lost.
"Well years ago I heard that hospice is the happiest sad place that I know, I think that is true because we see so much sadness here and so much grief. Yet we get to journey with people in such an important time in their life and we get to impact families in ways that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. So it's pretty important to stop a minute and remember those people that have made all of this possible for us," CEO Midland Care, Karren Wichert said.
Midland hopes to raise up to $125,000 at Friday nights event.
