Brown Co. teacher headed to trial, accused of sexual relations with student

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — A former Brown Co. teacher who is accused of having sex with one of her students is heading to trial.

MSCNews is reporting Gabrielle Bauman waved her right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday. The 24-year-old was then bound over for trial on a single count of unlawful sexual relations.

The former Hiawatha High School science teacher is accused of having sexual relations with a student between November of last year and May of this year. She resigned in July after only teaching at the high school for a single year.

Brown Co. Attorney Kevin Hill says an arraignment hearing has been set for November 27th. MSC News says Bauman is currently free on $5,000 bond.
