MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Bison, wolves, and wildlands are taking over the Flint Hills Discovery Center. Their new exhibit Bison: the Great American icon is about to open.
The interactive exhibit combines history and hands-on activities, with artifacts including bison hides and a model teepee.
The exhibit tells the journey of the bison from being a primary provider for the Plains Indians, to the brink of extinction, and now back to thriving. It also takes a compelling look at wolves and wildlands.
“You can come in and learn the story of the American Bison from prehistory through settlement into today," said Stephen Birdenstine Curator of Education. "It’s really the story of this magnificent animal - our national mammal.”
The exhibit opens Saturday, and will be on display until Jan. 13th.
