TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Kansas Information Consortium hosted a holiday heroes afternoon holiday event for children at the Topeka rescue mission Saturday.
The superhero themed celebration included a carnival, inflatable playhouse, games, food and cotton candy. Even batman made an appearance. He says the kids are the real superheroes this holiday season.
"When you look at everybody going through the holidays there are some who have it really well," said CEO of NIC, Harry Herington, who dressed up as Batman, "and there are others who are going to struggle and what they do at the Topeka Rescue Mission is."
Rescue Mission Executive Director, Barry Feaker, says the holidays can be a tough time for children but this event helps brighten their spirits.
