S. Lyon Co. school sustains extensive hail damage Monday
Damage assessments are underway at a southern Lyon County Elementary school after a severe thunderstorm dumped baseball sized hail on the area Monday morning.
According to KVOE, USD 252 Southern Lyon County Superintendent Mike Argabright says Neosho Rapids Elementary had damage to its heating, ventilation air conditioning units, and roof.
The school's buses were said to be dinged-up as well.
KVOE says many Neosho Rapids residents have already reached out to their insurance companies after the storm damged their homes, particularly their roofs.
The storm rolled through Southern Lyon County around 4 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.
The strong system also produced hail about one inch in diameter in the communities of Olpe and Waverly.
