Authorities investigating death of employee outside Junction City Police Dept.

(WIBW) - Yellow police tape is strung around a parking lot outside the Junction City Police Department, where a civilian employee was found dead of a gunshot wound Tuesday morning.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says JCPD contacted them just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, requesting assistance with the investigation.

According to the KBI, a Junction City police officer left the building around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday and found the employee, identified only as a 58-year-old man.

KBI spokesperson Melissa Underwood said authorities currently have no evidence a crime occurred, but they continue investigating.

The employee's name is not being released until family is notified.
