Assault call leads to felon firearm possession charges

TOPEKA (WIBW) -- Topeka Police have arrested a felon and charged him with several crimes after an assault call on New Year's Day afternoon. They got the call just after 3:30pm of an assault in progress at 3300 SW 29th in Topeka. They found the suspect with a firearm, also possessing meth and marijuana.

Officers arrested Boisy Barefield for the criminal charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine as well as Marijuana, Aggravated Assault, Battery, and city warrants.

Barefield was taken to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on those charges Tuesday.
