A three month long criminal investigation and two active grass fires in rural Riley County Friday night led them to the 22 year old.

He is being held in the Riley County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

The fires occurred between 11 p.m. and 12:50 a.m. in Leonardville. The first was at the intersection of Alert and Sherman Roads in the southeast corner of the town. The second was near the Fairview Church and Calvary Road intersection.

Police say in November of 2019 they assisted the Riley County Fire Department to investigate several suspicious grassfires occurring in the northern part of the county.

The investigation is ongoing.
