Arab Shriners donate circus tickets to local kids

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A Topeka Learning Center was surprised by a few Arab Shriner's clowns Wednesday, but instead of tricks, they had free circus tickets up their sleeves.

The Arab Shrine Circus visited the First Presbyterian Church's TDC's Adventures in Early Learning Center to present 3,500 tickets to the United Way of Greater Topeka.

Arab Shrine officials say the tickets valued more than $52,000.

United Way of Greater Topeka President and CEO Jessica Lehnherr says they are proud to partner with the Shriner's dedication to the community.

"It's so fun to be able to be with clowns and be able to have the circus come in town," she said. "we are so grateful for the Shriners for donating those tickets so that we can help distribute them to children in our community that may not be able to go otherwise without those tickets."

The Arab Shrine Circus will be held at the Kansas Expocentre February 15-17.
