TOPEKA (WIBW) -- Kansas Highway Patrol troopers chased an armed man in a truck, wanted for kidnapping an infant from Junction City.

Junction City Police say the kidnapping happened around 2:00p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of W. 8th St.

KHP says they were notified the suspect was traveling east on I-70 toward Topeka.

The truck was located just west of Topeka. Troopers waited for additional units and a safe location before they attempted to stop the driver.

Authorities say the driver was eastbound on the Kansas Turnpike and refused to stop for law enforcement. Stop sticks were deployed, but the driver still kept going.

Authorities say troopers were able to box in the suspect, and stop the vehicle. A infant boy who was reported as kidnapped was removed from the vehicle and taken into protective custody.

KHP says the child, who is under 1-year-old, was not harmed. A man and woman were taken into custody. Charges are pending against the man in Geary and Shawnee Counties.

JCPD says the man was the child's father, but could not say who the woman was, or how she was involved.
