TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Advisors Excel teamed up with Topeka Public School's to help students check items off their Christmas list.
The program is part of Advisors Excel's Season of Sharing and gives students who may not otherwise be able to give or receive gifts, a special Christmas.
Advisors Excel gave the students from State Street Elementary School $150 to spend at Kohl's.
Kayden Rawlinds said, "We got to spend $150 on clothes and whatever we wanted pretty much. This is amazing."
Students, like Destiny McArthur, chose something they have always wanted.
"They got me this Chiefs jersey because of Patrick Mahomes. I always wanted a Chiefs jersey," she said.
Others, like Jaydyn Gardner, said they never had the experience of shopping for themselves.
"I think it's a really good moment for me because I've never been to Kohl's before and I've never got picked like this," he said.
The free shopping spree is made possible by Advisors Excel, they want to make sure at-risk and in-need students from schools across USD 501 have a great holiday season.
While there were plenty of things they could buy, many kids spent the money on clothes.
McArthur said, "Christmas shopping for clothes, that I mean I need because I'm growing out of them."
With smiles on their face and shopping bags in hand, the students said they feel grateful.
"Thank you guys a lot," said Gardner.
Topeka Public Schools also said they are thankful to Advisors Excel for their generosity and bettering the lives of their students.
