KBI arrest suspect in human trafficking case near downtown Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- After an eight month long investigations into suspected human trafficking the Kansas Bureau of Investigation made an arrest Monday morning.

Authorities say at 6:30 in the morning KBI agents arrested 54 year old Michael A. Anderson in Topeka. He was taken into custody at 620 SW 9th St.

Anderson was arrested for rape, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated battery. He was then booked into the Shawnee County jail. Authorities say formal charges are pending.

KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team served a search warrant at the home. The Kansas Highway Patrol shut down 9th Street between Tyler and Polk, near Topeka High School, during the investigation. There was no threat or danger to the public.

The investigation is ongoing and police say additional arrests are anticipated.
