About 20 sheep shot, killed at property south of Meriden

JEFFERSON CO., Kan. (WIBW) - Someone has killed nearly two dozen sheep in Jefferson County.

Sheriff Jeff Herrig told 13 NEWS a property owner at 62nd and Anderson Rd., south of Meriden, discovered two more sheep shot since the weekend. In all, he owner has had about 20 sheep killed since the beginning of May.

Herrig says, with that many animals lost, authorities believe someone is shooting them deliberately.

He says the owner estimates it's about a $1,000 loss.

Authorities ask anyone who may have witnesses shooting in that area, or who has any other information about the incident, to call the Jefferson Co. Sheriff's Office, 785-863-2351.
