Topeka VA showcases women veterans with art and poetry
In honor of the brave women who have served honorably in the ranks of our military, the Topeka VA recognized their service Wednesday.
In celebration of Women's History Month, Colmery O'Neal held an open house for national and local women veterans who are using art to express their emotions.
There are ten national posters on display, along with poetry, oil paintings and photography.
Kathy Zima-Sauer of the Topeka VA says she hopes this brings a greater appreciation for women who serve and have served.
"It's just really honoring and appreciating women veterans. Apart of art for veterans can be such a healing and expressive way to share their experiences, to give voice to not only to themselves as a human being through their art," Zima-Sauer, said.
The Easter Kansas Health Care System is just one of ten VA medical centers nationwide to host the exhibit.
