MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Have you ever wanted to meet local makers and artists?
The Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan is making that a reality this week with their “Meet the Makers” series.
Tuesday’s featured makers were Susan Rose, local artist and Ann Warren, local henna artist. Both artists had displays of their work as well as interactive demonstrations for visitor participation.
“We have artists and makers coming in to do demonstrations of their craft here in our beautiful atrium.” Flint Hills Discovery Center, curator of education, Stephen Bridenstine said.
Susan Rose had large puzzle pieces for kids to color for a unique puzzle. Ann Warren offered small henna art which she applied to children’s hands.
“I don’t know what kind of, you know, artists you’re looking for, but here’s what I do, if you’re interested, I would love to be a part of it.” Veronica’s Veil, henna artist, Ann Warren said.
“I just love interacting with the public and kids and talking about art, and encouraging them”
