Coroner's report released in June 2018 vehicle crash

TOPEKA (WIBW)-- A coroner's report shows a driver who drowned seven months ago after a Topeka crash was drunk.

13 NEWS obtained a copy of the autopsy report. It shows Ricky Lynn Leece, 63, had a blood-alcohol level measuring more than twice the legal limit. No other drugs were found in his system.

Leece died June 1st. His vehicle struck a concrete culvert in the 1000 block of University Boulevard.

The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and land upside down in a nearby creek. Its top was submerged with Leece trapped inside.

The coroner ruled Leece died of drowning due to blunt force injury.
