No injuries in intentionally-set house fire near Central Park

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - No one was injured in a house fire near Central Park Saturday afternoon believed to be intentionally set, according to Topeka Fire.

TFD responded to the fire just before 1 p.m. at 1017 SW 15th Street near Central Park.

Crews arrived to smoke and flames from the large two-story residence and put the blaze out in less than 20 minutes.

Upon search, the house was vacant.

An initial investigation by TFD's Investigation Unit revealed the incendiary fire originated in the northwest corner of the first floor of the building.

Estimated structural damage is $5,000.

Along with TFD, Kansas Gas Service and Westar Energy responded to the scene.

No smoke detectors were sounding within the structure.
