TPD officers and members of the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office surrounded a home near the intersection and closed Tyler St. after a midday incident left one woman dead. On Monday, police identified her as Kyong "Carol" Wood.

Officers first responded just after 12 p.m. Sunday to a report that someone had suffered an "unknown trauma" in the area.

When they arrived, the victim's body was at the house and a male person of interest was inside.

After hours of officers talking to David E. Wood, Jr., via loudspeaker to get him to come out of the house, the standoff ended just before 5:15 p.m. when the man walked out peacefully.

Police urge people to avoid the area, as their homicide investigation is ongoing.

Investigators have not released the victim's name at this time. Her identity will be held until next of kin are notified.

TPD did not provide any other information about her death and no information about her death has been released.
