KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WIBW) -- The NFL Draft is coming to Kansas City!

The home of the Chiefs will host the event in 2023, the NFL announced on Wednesday. The celebration brings much more than college players looking to fulfill lifelong dreams and fans excited to see who their team will pick.

The free, three-day Draft Experience will let those fans participate and test their footballs skills, enjoy interactive exhibits and autograph sessions, and take pictures with the Vince Lombardi trophy.

“We know Chiefs fans will come out to celebrate along with thousands of fans from teams around the country for an incredible experience as we welcome the next generation of NFL players,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said.

The draft event will be set up around Union Station and the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt called the announcement "a historic day for Kansas City and the Chiefs Kingdom." He said the organization looks forward to show off Kansas City on the national stage.

"Chiefs Kingdom is home to the most passionate fans in the world, and I know they will make Kansas City proud as the host of one of the NFL’s premiere events,” Hunt said.

To celebrate, the Kansas City skyline will be bathed in red lights Wednesday night.
