14-year-old boy accused of pointing gun at girls outside Wichita elementary school

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -- Wichita police arrested a 14-year-old boy after they say he pulled a gun a group of girls at Woodman Elementary School.

Officers responded to a disturbance with a firearm call in the 2500 block of south Hiram around 4:10 p.m. on Thursday.

An employee reported individuals on the scene possibly had guns.

Officers investigated and learned there was a disturbance between two groups of juveniles - five boys and six girls. The teens were walking from Truesdell Middle School to Woodman when a 14-year-old boy allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the group of girls.

No shots fired and no one hurt.

Officers arrested the boy on the scene on six counts of aggravated of assault, assault with a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm by a juvenile and unlawful use of a weapon.

A handgun was also recovered.

Woodman Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown

The investigation is ongoing.
