Jim Hollis always had a special friendship with former Kansas Governor and 1936 Presidential candidate Alf Landon. But when he wanted to film the Gov. hopping on his horse wearing his jodphurs.. he couldn't get the shot.
He was helping Governor Landon get his feet in the stirrups and make his way up to the saddle before Mr. Landon galloped off.
That's the special memory Jim Hollis shares in our 13 at 65 report as we approach the station's 65th anniversary on the air next month.
Enjoy this collection of film clips, and join us again Monday at 5:00 when we catch up with reporter/ anchor John Holt, now a longtime anchor for WDAF-TV in Kansas City.
