Minor transported to area hospital after shooting
A minor has been taken to an area hospital following a shooting in southeast Topeka.
Topeka Police tell 13 NEWS they were called to the area of SE 23rd and Kentucky just after 10 p.m.
Several officers were in the area after reports of shots fired near SE 18th Terr. and Indiana and near 29th and Colorado. The shots fired calls and the shooting were all reported within a 30 minute time period.
When officers arrived at the shooting, they found a minor suffering from a gunshot wound. Authorities say the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Officers had to evacuate the home because the gunshots hit a gas line causing a leak.
The gunshots came from the street, with shell-casings scattered for about a block.
TPD says they are investigating the incident. No word if anyone has been arrested.
