KHP: Topeka woman killed in wreck on Hwy. 75
A collision between a tractor-trailer rig and a car south of Holton claimed one life Monday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the wreck happened just after 7 p.m. in the median of Hwy. 75 at 190th Rd., about five miles south of Holton.
Authorities say 80-year-old Helen Nolan, of Topeka, was leaving the Prairie Band One Stop convenience store when she tried to cross the highway, failed to yield and was hit by an oncoming semi.
KHP says Nolan, who was driving a PT Cruiser, was killed. The semi's driver 55-year-old Steven Akin was not hurt.
The highway remained open Monday night, but KHP advised people to take alternate routes or expect slowdowns, as the accident reconstruction team would be on-scene investigating for several more hours.
