TOPEKA, Kan. (THE DRIVE) Despite a huge day on the ground for Alex Barnes, Kansas State couldn't stop its losing streak at Baylor.
The Bears kicked a go-ahead field goal with eight seconds left to top the Wildcats 37-34 on Saturday. Barnes ran for a career-high 250 yards with three touchdowns.
Skylar Thompson started for K-State at quarterback while Alex Delton was inactive. Thompson threw for 50 yards and scored two total touchdowns while also throwing two interceptions. The second one was costly, as it came in the fourth quarter to lead Baylor to a go-ahead touchdown and give the Bears a 34-27 lead.
K-State also fumbled the kickoff to start the second half which gave Baylor great field position for an easy score. K-State goes on to face Oklahoma State on Saturday.
No. 9 West Virginia beat Kansas 38-22 on Saturday. Grier was able to score four touchdowns but Kansas was able to intercept him three different times in the red zone to keep the game close. Grier also fumbled it in the third quarter. West Virginia had committed six total turnovers in its previous four games.
Kansas freshman Pooka Williams, the Big 12's leading rusher, was held under 100 yards for the third straight game. He had 12 carries for 65 yards.
Kansas does not have a game this week, but will play Texas Tech on October 20th.
