TOPEKA, Kan. (THE DRIVE) K-State had a big win over Central Arkansas winning 55-19. This shows that their number 20 ranking is not without reason.

The whole team did great as a whole, with seven different players reaching the end zone, but there were two star players of the night. One being senior quarterback Jesse Ertz and junior defensive back D.J. Reed.

Ertz threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns in just three quarters of play time. He was 10 of 16 for the night and had some tremendous long throws to multiple receivers. Byron Pringle had three catches for 121 yards and a score, and Isaiah Harris had three catches for 118 yards and a TD.

D.J. Reed had a 62 yard punt return for a touchdown, an interception and a 90+ yard run kick return running out of steam just shy of the endzone.

Kansas State plays Charlotte next Saturday before hitting the road to Vanderbilt.

Peyton Bender got the start at QB for the Jayhawks. He also threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns to solidify then 38-16 win over Southeast Missouri State.

Sims was another stand out player with an early 77 yard touchdown, and would eventually connect again with 13 seconds left in the first half. Sims finished with a game high of 142 yards.

Beaty is in his third year and this team seems to finally be coming together. This was a great opener for KU and they hope to keep the momentum going into conference season. The Jayhawks host central Michigan next week.

Former Coach Mangino and the 2007-08 Orange Bowl team were also honored at the game.
