Weekend Anchor/Multimedia Journalist

I’ll never forget the first time I picked up a camera in high school. That first broadcast class made me re-think my entire career path. I had it all planned out – I was going to the University of Nebraska to study mechanical engineering. That class – Broadcast-Tech 1 – made me reconsider.

I learned the basics of newsgathering, and two years later I enrolled at the University of Kansas. I used my years at KU to hone my craft and learn as much as I could about broadcast journalism. I also reported and anchored for KUJH, the school’s TV-news program.

That’s when I truly started to understand news. I learned it was much more than running a camera and holding a microphone, it was about storytelling and finding compelling people to talk to. After four years at KUJH, it was time to move on and start my career in TV-news at WIBW.

News may be my life, but that’s not all I do! I spend my free time outdoors as much as possible. On a lazy day you might catch me between two trees swinging in a hammock, reading a book. Another favorite of mine is photography. When the air is warm I’ll grab my helmet and camera and take a long motorcycle ride out to the country. In my mind, it’s hard to beat the natural beauty of Kansas landscapes like the Flint Hills or the nearby Native Stone Scenic Byway.

If you ever have any ideas for news coverage, feel free to reach out! I’m always looking for stories to tell.
