I’m a senior at the University of Kansas majoring in Atmospheric Science with a minor in Journalism. I will be graduating from KU in May of 2021.
The weather in Kansas can be quite extreme and being a Kansas native, I am no stranger to the extreme weather patterns we can have. I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas so I have experienced a lot of extreme weather and love every second of it! Even as a young child I knew I wanted to be a meteorologist. I would constantly watch the Weather Channel and stand in front of the tv acting like I was telling the weather. My interest in weather began at age 7 when Wichita experienced a significant ice storm in 2005. My family and I were without power for nearly two weeks! That was the start of my interest in weather.
The Midwest has some of the craziest weather in the world. Whether its snowstorms, severe weather, or calm conditions, I love forecasting all of it. There is no other place I would rather be forecasting for!
During my free time, I like to spend time with family and friends. I love to teach people about the weather, especially my 6-year-old sister and 11-year-old brother. If you have any weather-related questions, feel free to contact me! I am also a huge Netflix/Hulu binge watcher! I also enjoy storm chasing. The craziest storm I have chased was hurricane Laura, which was a major category 4 storm that hit SW Louisiana. My craziest Kansas storm chase was in Florence Ks in a severe thunderstorm that was producing damaging wind gusts and baseball size hail!
