TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Despite having a month left to play, Washburn football won’t leave the Sunflower State for the remainder of the regular season.

The Ichabods have four games remaining, including two road games, both against in-state rivals (Fort Hays State on Sat. and Emporia State on Nov. 7).

“You always want to play at home in front of your fans but going on the road is a great opportunity to show your tough your culture is and your brotherhood,” Washburn defensive back Joshua Flash told 13 SPORTS on Wednesday.

Washburn sits at 4-2-1 on the season, already exceeding their 2025 win total. The Ichabods are coming off a 49-43 loss to Central Missouri last Saturday.

“Back-to-back road games in tough places to play against really good opponents is not easy, but our guys are up for the challenge,” head coach Zach Watkins said. “We’ve prepared them well; they know exactly what the expectations are for how they travel and preparation.”

The Ichabods take on Fort Hays State next on Saturday, Oct. 25.
