Washburn Rural student receives Certificate of Excellence for documentary

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Washburn Rural High School student Charlie Stones, a finalist for the 2024 Discovery Award competition, received a Certificate of Excellence for their documentary.
The Certificate of Excellence from the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes (LMC) was awarded to Stones’s documentary: March 19, 1966 (Unsung Hero Don Haskins)
In addition, Anna McLaughlin and Danika Szopinski from Seaman High School were awarded the $1,000 Founder’s Award from the LMC for their documentary about a young Jewish courier and member of the Jewish Resistance during the Holocaust, Bela Hazan.
