AMBER ALERT canceled: 4 Topeka children safe, suspect in custody
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Four children from Topeka were found safe and their mother is in custody, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation says.
The KBI issued an Amber Alert just after 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 5, for Au’Vae Riley, 12; Da’avian Riley Jr., 10; Ty’rell Riley, 7; and Aunila Riley, 5. At 3:20 p.m., they issued an update stating the children were located and the suspect is in custody.
The Topeka Police Department says the children’s mother Dontresha Shabree Thomas took them just after 10:30 a.m. Monday from 2105 SE Swygart Ave. TPD says she made comments to the father that lead them to believe the children were in imminent danger. Thomas was arrested after the incident for aggravated assault, interference with law enforcement, four counts of criminal threat, and four counts of child endangerment.
Topeka Police declined to release any further information as to who found the children or where they were located.
