MISSION, Kan. (KCTV) - On Friday, the authorities were engaged in a standoff with a suspect at Foxfire Apartments in Mission, Kansas.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said they were trying to serve multiple felony warrants from multiple jurisdictions just before 11 a.m. in the area of W. 51st Street and Glenwood Street. However, the suspect refused to come out and barricaded himself inside his apartment.
The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team then went to the scene in hopes that the man would peacefully come outside. They did not know if he was armed, but that’s why SERT’s tactical officers went there.
The sheriff’s office said they would evacuate residents or tell them to shelter in place as needed during the incident.
Later on Friday, the sheriff’s office provided an update and said that SERT was able to breach the door after retrieving a search warrant.
The suspect surrendered without further incident. He has been identified as Christian Enrique Toledano. A mugshot is not available yet.
The sheriff’s office said he will be booked into jail on the original warrants that were being served this morning. Any additional charges are pending, so that report would not be available yet.
The Mission Police Department assisted during this incident.
