Garth Brooks sits down with 13 NEWS to promote upcoming concert at Arrowhead
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Garth Brooks sat down with 13 NEWS This Morning on Thursday to promote his upcoming concert at Arrowhead Stadium.
The show is set for Saturday, August 7th at 7 p.m., rain or shine.
“When people say, ‘why Kansas City’, it’s because we’ve played there before,” Brooks said, “You can set up residency in Kansas City and feel just at home.”
Brooks said half his band and crew members are from Topeka, Wichita, Kansas City, and other parts of the state, so he said coming back is always like a family reunion.
He added because of their strong ties to Kansas City, fans can also expect to see a lot of the crew wearing Chiefs gear for their first-ever show at Arrowhead Stadium.
“I think there’s going to be a lot of gratefulness,” Brooks continued saying, “None of us have got to do this for a year or so, and I think you’re going to see it in the crowd just gratefulness to get to gather again and get to sing together.”
He said they are one of the first tours to get to perform for large crowds again and feels very lucky, but Brooks said that also comes with great responsibility.
“Our job is to make sure that we all abide by the rules,” he added, “We can’t afford to have this thing fire up to shut back down again, so we need to take care of each other.”
Brooks said his goal is to bring people together to sing and have everyone leave the stadium loving each other more than when they got there.
