Salina to add direct flight to Houston
SALINA, Kan. (KWCH) - Central Kansas residents will have a new way to get to Texas later this year.
The Saline County Board of Commissioners accepted a grant request Tuesday from the Salina Airport Authority that will allow a non-stop jet service to Houston beginning Sept. 1.
The county will award the Salina Regional Airport Authority airport $1.6 million to reimburse SkyWest Airlines for any revenue shortfalls over one year. The money comes from federal dollars approved when the American Rescue Plan passed earlier this year.
The new flight gives the airport a third option for direct flights along with Denver and Chicago.
