Giant crane lifts air-conditioning units for top of building in downtown Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A giant crane on Wednesday morning was lifting 10 large air-conditioning units from street level to the top of a seven-story building in downtown Topeka.
Starting around 5 a.m. Wednesday, crews had the 100 block of S.W. 9th Street blocked to traffic to prepare for the project.
A large crane was on the scene by around 8 a.m. and the air-conditioning units arrived around 9 a.m.
The crane then began hoisting the air-conditioning units to the top of a seven-story building at 901 S. Kansas Ave.
Workers at the scene told 13 NEWS they expected the project would take several hours.
The city announced earlier that S.W. 9th between S. Kansas Avenue and S.W. Jackson would be closed on Wednesday to allow crews to work on the project.
